First rupture test video:
The Laboratory of Mechanical Equipment and Structures at IPT makes its newest equipment, the Testing System for Mooring Equipment | SEEA, available to the industry.
The system assists in the development and testing of high capacity synthetic or metallic mooring lines, chains, hooks, spools and other heavy components for oil & gas companies and their suppliers. SEEA can develop static traction loads of up to 2600 tf and dynamic traction loads of up to 1300 tf. It can handle an actuator displacement of up to 2.5 meters and accepts samples with a length of up to 20 meters.
Unique to the southern hemisphere, similar equipment only exists in the USA (Houston) and in Norway (Bergen), SEEA puts Brazil at the forefront of research and development of offshore components and systems.
