Abstract:
The project aims to improve the performance and reduce the cost of manufacturing molds and matrices for polymer injection by changing the processes and alloys used in mold production. The authors propose the production of wear-resistant high chromium white cast iron molds for polymer injection obtained by casting. The article presents the results of alloy design, development of the casting systems (feeders) and macrostructure characterization of the casting alloys. The results showed that its viable to produce molds of high chromium white cast iron with wear resistant properties optimized for this application.
