Impactos da adoção de faixas exclusivas de ônibus: uma análise do caso de São Paulo

Abstract:

Using a Difference-in-Differences model, this paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of first the Bus Lane policy, and second the reduction of speed limit of the roads and avenues in the city of São Paulo between 2010 and 2015. The database contains speed measures of parts from the same road or avenue. The exercise intends to analyze the impact of this policy in the average speed of vehicles which use routes. The effect showed by the model varies from -26% to +49% in routes where bus lanes was implemented, and from -52% to +38% in routes where bus lane was implemented and the speed limit was reduced. As a result, it is possible to note that the effect of the policy can change according to the way the road or the avenue is used.
