Abstract:

This paper presents proposals to deal with common limitations in surface water sampling. Two prototypes were developed in a way that, in addition to having in common the use of small multi-rotor drones, both were idealized with the premise of being simple to build, operate and maintain. The results of the tests were satisfactory and showed that especially prototype 2 (based on the use of bailers and in the transmission of images in real time) has the potential to significantly improve the procedures for surface water sampling in the field. In addition to the operational / maintenance simplicity, prototype 2 was able to collect 150 mL of water – sufficient for up to 15 turbidity analyses – with the drone at a vertical distance of 5 m from the water surface.
