Contribuição da cor da cobertura na melhoria do desempenho térmico da habitação no período de verão

Abstract

This paper presents the results of analysis of the thermal performance of a small building by computer simulation in order to demonstrate that the influence of external surface color of the roof depends on the characteristics of the constructive system and several design parameters. It was adopted as reference two constructive system, defined as "lightweight" and "heavyweight" systems. Those systems are made of components with "low" and "high" thermal inertia, with variations in the thermal insulation of the roof, comprised by of fiber cement tiles, painted in light and dark colors, high and low solar reflectance, for all the combinations of constructive system and thermal insulation of the roof condition. The computer simulations were performed using the Energy Plus software considering the climate conditions of a summer design day of the city of São Paulo. The model revealed that the thermal performance for small residential buildings is mainly ruled by construction system design and level of thermal insulation of coverage. Additionally, the influence of color of the roof surfaces is only significant in some specific cases.
