Risk of fire in buildings is a complex issue that requires a systemic approach to enable compliance with a number of requirements which, taken together, make it possible to equip buildings with a level of fire risk compatible with their main risks.

This matter is the subject of compulsory regulations defined by public authorities with the primary purpose of preserving human life, and of noncompulsory regulations such as those issued by insurance companies and reinsurance underwriters, aiming to reduce material losses.
