Abstract:
In Brazil and many other countries, geological-geotechnical risk analyzes are almost exclusively performed through qualitative assessments. Recognizing the possible limitations to the qualitative analysis of geological risks, this paper aims to present the results of the application of the methodology elaborated by the Integrated Management of Natural Hazards and Disasters – GIDES, which includes quantitative and qualitative methods for hazard and risk mapping for mass movements. The study area selected in this study was the Vila Baiana area, in Guarujá-SP, the site with the highest number of visits performed by Civil Defense and where a significant amount of data is available. The hazard map elaborated attributed to classes P2 – Moderate, related to no evidence of observed instability and P4 – Very High, associated with the presence of scars of landslides or previous occurrences of landslides. The vulnerability was qualified in V2 – Moderate, attributed to masonry constructions, without structural damage. The risk map elaborated assigned through the risk matrix that correlates to the vulnerability and degree of danger adopted, the classes R2 – Moderate and R4 – Very High.
