Abstract:
This paper presents the results of the crosshole tests and seismic dilatometer tests (SDMT) performed before the construction of two building, for design purposes. Four crosshole tests were carried out using five cased boreholes (20m depth). Each test was carried out using two boreholes. At the middle of the two boreholes used for the crosshole tests, SDMT tests were performed down to 13 meters depth. Crosshole test results were used as a „„yard stick‟‟ for evaluating the accuracy of the VS profile obtained from SDMT tests. Similar results were obtained and the data showed excellent agreement. Advantages and disadvantages of each of the two tests were briefly discussed.
