Aplication of chronopotentiometry for evaluating the transport of ions of copper plating wastewater through a selective membrane

Abstract:

In this work, chronopotentiometry was used to study the transport of ions from a wastewater of a cyanide-free copper plating bath through a heterogeneous membrane. A galvanostat was used and the potential difference across the membrane was recorded by means of two reference electrodes. The results indicate that the transport of the ions is influenced by the redox reactions of water. The resistivity of the organic acid may cause a rise in electrical resistance of the system, and the limiting current density varies depending on the thickness of the diffusion boundary layer.
