Abstract:
Old industrial areas and service enterprises, subject to the risk of environmental liabilities, with the transition of city profiles, were abandoned and became the so-called brownfields. The international real estate market, in the last decades, began to reconsider these areas promoting their rehabilitation. In this study, we evaluated different international cases that relate the real estate sector to contaminated areas, presenting the concepts used to prove this interest, and it proves to be a promising market for application in Brazil, requiring a thorough study of financial viability and responsibilities.
