The IPT is an institute linked to the Economic Development Secretariat of the State of São Paulo and for 123 years it has collaborated with the country’s development process.

One of the largest research institutes in Brazil, IPT has qualified laboratories and a team of highly qualified researchers and technicians, basically working in four major areas – innovation, research & development; technological services; metrology development & support, and technology information & education.

Attentive to the needs of the public and private sectors, it provides technological solutions and services aimed at increasing the competitiveness of companies and promoting quality of life.

Through eight business units, it operates in a multidisciplinary way, covering the most diverse segments such as energy, transport, oil & gas, environment, civil construction, cities, health and safety.

It is a national reference in the metrological area, with several laboratories accredited by Cgcre/Inmetro.

The year 2020 marked the start of operations for the IPT Open Experience, which is the cornerstone of the CITI project – International Center for Technology and Innovation, whose focus is the development and application of high-intensity technologies (hardtech). The IPT Open is, therefore, the first action by the government of São Paulo to create a true Brazilian “Silicon Valley” in the state capital.

More modern and integrated, in tune with the opportunities and demands of technological development and prepared to be a qualified link between universities, research centers and the business sector, the IPT maintains its collaborative role in the development of the country.
