Avaliação da abrasividade de minérios a partir do ensaio LCPC em alternativa ao método de Bond

Abstract:

Abrasiveness, usually represented as Bond Abrasion Index (Ai), refers to the ability of a material to wear or polish other materials. Ai is widely used to evaluate the wear that certain ore will cause in the coating of the equipment used in processing. Several tests can be carried out in order to determine the abrasiveness of a mineral and the Bond method is the most used in the mining industry. Despite being simple, this test has some limitations regarding granulometry and quantity of material required, which often makes it difficult to perform with ores in the early stages of the process and in pre-concentration studies. The LCPC test may be an alternative, since it requires less mass with finer grain size. In order to evaluate the applicability of the LCPC, tests were carried out on minerals with different abrasivities using the two methods mentioned. Besides requiring a faster experimental procedure with lower source of errors, the results has shown less variability than those obtained by the Bond method.
