Investigation of thermal desorption of HCH: temperature and time effects

Compartilhe:
Abstract:
In this paper, the effects of heattreatmenton the properties of isomers of hexachlorocyclohexane (Reference Material) and the technical grade-HCH were investigated. Thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results indicated that heating causes melting of the samples followed by evaporation of the MR isomers. The same thermal process was observed for technical grade-HCH, but with an intermediate melting and evaporation temperature for the isomers present in the HCH matrix. By the other side, the investigation of technical grade-HCH in a closed system (reactor) shows that concentration of the insecticide isomers present in the technical grade-HCH is temperature and time dependent but the evolved gases are more toxic and must be previously treated before released in the atmosphere.
