Abstract:
In 1987 it was approved by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), a set of standards dedicated to establishing procedures for classification and sampling of solid waste, which were revised in 2004. This study aims to make a discussion of the application of classification standards of waste, with the object of study beyond the standards, the reports waste classification issued by eight service providers in the metropolitan region of São Paulo – SP, anonymously and random. The methodology used in this study is descriptive, using content analysis. The procedure was guided by a roadmap drawn from the steps of the classification process presented in NBR 10004. It also considered the information presented and identified in standards as required to be disclosed in reports classification from other standards that are part of the classification process (NBR 10005, NBR 10006 and NBR 10007). Subsequently, the reports were faced with the identified requirements. The results were presented and analyzed to evaluate the compliance with the regulatory requirements for classification..
