Abstract
This article introduces the function of various additives used in Watts nickel plating baths, addressing the mechanism of action of brighteners, leveling compounds and surfactants. For each type of additive, the most commercially used chemical compounds are presented. The effect of the operating conditions of this type of bath on the deposit characteristics is also discussed in this work.
