IPT´s Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection (LCP) deals with failure analysis of painted metallic materials, studying the following features: painting line inspection, evaluation of surface pretreatment and paint application procedures and characterization of paint systems failures.

For this goal, IPT has a complete infrastructure for the application of organic coatings and for the characterization of failures in finished products. The Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection has also almost all the necessary equipment for the characterization of liquid paints as well as the dry and wet films.

As a complement to laboratory tests, the Lab has equipment to perform field tests, such as portable thickness measuring and adhesion checking devices.

In addition to performing failure analysis, IPT also specifies surface preparation and painting systems for equipment and structures, according to the client\’s needs and taking into account the aggressiveness of where these equipment and structures will be exposed. It also has experience in elaborating technical standards for paints, surface preparation procedures and paint systems.
