Mortes por deslizamentos no Brasil: 1988 a 2022


Mass movements are the geological processes that most cause fatalities in Brazil. From 1988 to 2022, 4146 people were victimized in 16 states, 269 municipalities and in 959 events. The main cities are located in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro state, namely Petrópolis, Teresópolis and Nova Friburgo. The data are in the Landslide Deaths Database compiled by the Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas do Estado de São Paulo, from media news on its various digital and print platforms, scientific articles, academic works among various available sources.
