Abstract:
This paper presents the results obtained regarding flooding in the registration of the São Paulo State erosions and flooding points, an investigation that aims to subsidize the State Water and Electric Energy Department, attached to the State Department of Sanitation and Water Resources, with basic elements for the planning of programs and actions to address the problems caused by floods in urban areas throughout the federative unit. It was demonstrated that floods occur in urban areas of 334 of the 645 municipalities of São Paulo State, caused especially by conflicts of land use, as a result of the development of urban networks along the floodplain and valley floor areas and/or near river banks. It is expected that the planning elements presented in this R&D project will subsidize the State of São Paulo management of water resources, river basins, drainage and municipal master plans, among others.
