Depósitos do fluxo de detritos de 1967 na Bacia do Rio Santo Antônio, Caraguatatuba, SP: delimitação e elaboração de isópacas

Abstract:

On March 18, 1967, in the region of Caraguatatuba (SP), Brazil, landslides and debris flows were triggered on the slopes of Serra do Mar, due to heavy rains that devastated the region. Thus, deposit zones were identified and mapped regarding the debris flows of the respective event in the Santo Antônio River watershed, and their thickness were inferred. The identification and delineation of the deposits were carried out using remote sensing techniques in aerial photos of 1973, complemented by retro-analysis, by the retrieval of reports about the event in bibliographic data. The thicknesses of the deposits of debris flows of 1967 were inferred through the field works carried out in the place, subsidized by the reports present in the literature. Five zones of deposits of debris flows were found, related to the event occurred in 1967, distributed in the tributary rivers and the main channel of the watershed. The configuration of the deposition range of 1967’ debris flows probably ceased in the distal portion of the first left alveolus of the Santo Antônio watershed (first left bank of the basin, considering the coastal direction- Serra do Mar). Other authors suggest other configurations; however, it is believed that they have considered the consequent processes that occurred in the place (mud flow and flooding).
