Abstract:
This paper presents the development of the engineering project during the enterprise implantation, demonstrating that the evolution of the geological-geotechnical knowledge of the intervention area can alter the locational and technological solutions presented in the round of the concession of the socio-environmental viability. The T3 and T4 tunnels are located in the most preserved areas of the Serra do Mar State Park, region with a great fragile nature considering the geological-geotechnical aspects and severe access restrictions. Considering this portion of the track, the analysis showed that the project did not filled the enterprise necessities and a significant change in the previously approved project (in the round of viability assessment) was made, giving the expressive increase of the environmental impact. In order to maintain viability, locational and technological alternatives were evaluated based on geophysical studies and previous research. The chosen solution was the union between the T3 and T4 tunnels. The result was a reduced surface intervention and better socio-environmental indicators.
