Abstract:
The study of tailings liquefaction is developed as a function of the variable called state parameter, which requires definition of the critical state line. The critical state line (LEC) separates two regions that characterize the behavior of materials, namely: contractile (susceptible to liquefaction) and dilatant (not susceptible to liquefaction). The objective of this work is to analyze the stability of a slope in 1G scale using methods based on Limit Equilibrium and by numerical modeling of an elastic-plastic model based on a laboratory investigation program, carried out to obtain the LEC, in addition to its compressibility and permeability characteristics. In this study, the procedures described by the corresponding standards were followed, in addition to several additional criteria. Such criteria include molding homogeneous specimens, complete saturation of the specimen and accurately determining the void ratio. The results obtained allow reinforcing the methodology to be followed in the tailings liquefaction studies, which is essential to obtain satisfactory results.
