Áreas suscetíveis a movimentos gravitacionais de massa e inundações nas regiões metropolitanas de São Paulo, Baixada Santista e Litoral Norte do Estado de São Paulo

Abstract:

This paper synthesizes the results of the work of elaborating maps of susceptibility to gravitational movements of mass and floods in the metropolitan areas of São Paulo and Baixada Santist and in the North Coast of the State of São Paulo. The works were carried out between 2014 and 2017, through a partnership between the Geological Service of Brazil and the Institute for Technological Research of the State of São Paulo, in the context of the implementation of the National Policy on Protection and Civil Defense and the State Program for the Prevention of Natural Disasters and Geological Hazard Reduction. The objectives included elaborating the map of susceptibility for each municipality and making available the products obtained through portals and infrastructures of spatial data on the web. The methods used in the elaboration of the municipal maps consider the processes of the physical environment that can generate disasters, analyzed from the compilation and treatment of geological, geomorphological, hydrological and other data, using computational modeling and field verification. The municipal territory is classified in zones of high, medium and low susceptibility, according to two groups of processes: slides, creep and rock fall; and flooding. Also pointed are the drainage basins susceptible to the generation of debris flow and flash flood. The map of susceptibility contains indicators that allow estimating the relative incidence of each class within the municipality. The composition of the municipal maps each region makes it.
