Abstract:
This paper presents the emerging technologies and incremental or disruptive innovations that are under development for application in Risk Management. It should be noted that internationally there is a great effort of disruptive applications focused on emergency care, but incremental innovations focused on urban planning are also dressed. The application of disruptive technologies to risk and disaster management varies in pace, scope and impact. The past few years have seen a sharp rise in emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, drones, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Possibly, within a few years these technologies will play important roles in different aspects of risk management.
