Chronopotentiometric study of manganese reduction mechanism in the sulfate/ chloride solutions

Abstract:

The reduction mechanism of manganese from manganese sulfate + potassium chloride aqueus solutions on a mercury electrode was investigated by chronopotentiometry. It was shown that Mn 2+ electrochemical reduction is not preceded by any chemical or adsorpion processes, the reaction being controlled by both the charge transfer at the surface involving simultaneously two electrons and the Mn 2+ diffusion to the electrode.
