Abstract:
A case history of steel piping corrosion by water used for food industry is reported. This piping, with no internal coating, suffered severe perforation after just 18 months of use. This perfurations was detected mainly in the pipes used for potable water, treated with chlorine. The corrosion is attributed to the agressivity of water which has no protective characteristics.
