Abstract:
The thermal effi ciency of a boiler is defi ned as the fraction of the power released in the combustion chamber which is transferred to the working fl uid. Since there is no standard methodology in Brazil for the calculation of boiler effi ciency, international standards are usually used. The calculation methodology developed by the Laboratory of Thermal Engineering (LET) of IPT is based on the American (ASME) and German (DIN) standards, and it has been used in industry work involving the effi cient use of fuel.
