Abstract:
This paper presents the methodology used to evaluate the elastic constants of eucalipto-citriodora wood using the ultrasound equipment model EPOCH 4B was used with longitudinal and shear waves transducers, both with a 0,1MHz frequency.-. With the data obtained from the tests it was possible to determine the values of three Young’s moduli (EL, ER, ET), three shear moduli (GLR, GLT, GRT) and Poisson ratios (νRL, νLR, νLT, νTL, νRT, νTR). Some of the elastic constants measured using the ultrasound technology were compared with those determined by compression tests and, comparing the results, it was concluded that this methodology allows to obtain reliable values
