Abstract:
This paper presents the methodology developed by IPT to calculate the thermal efficiency boilers applied to the burning coal. The development was based on US and German standards, and leads to the calculation of efficiency by direct and indirect methods. The IPT team has been obtaining very consistent results in the use of the method for boilers operating with different fuels. One of the applications, particularly for coal-fired boilers installed in a petrochemical company, led to the configuration of a program that, by providing operators with instantaneous values of efficiency, allowed the equipment to be operated at all times to minimize fuel consumption.
