O uso da termodinâmica computacional para a simulção da reciclagem de pó de aciaria em forno Waelz

Abstract:
There is a growing need to control stemmed from the tailings metallurgical processes. In electric arc furnaces (EAF), and slag, a waste of the most important is the dust collected on the filters. Since he can not be placed in a landfill for their normally high concentration of heavy metals, such dust may be fed back on itself oven, but this may cause a disturbance in gait or even processed externally to be used in another application. Such processing may be hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical depending on the material to be produced. The predominant technology for pyrometallurgical processing is the recovery of zinc Waelz kilns, although there are other available technologies. In this case, there are two products: a zinc oxide containing lead and cadmium and an inert slag, usually with high teror iron, which can be reused in a FEA or be landfilled. The use of computational thermodynamics for modeling processes have been increasingly frequent since she can perform qualitative and quantitative predictions of the behavior of the process that enables optimization. The two programs are the most widely used commercial FactSage Thermocalc ® and ®. The goal of this work is to perform a simulation of operating conditions of a Waelz kiln using computational thermodynamics. The results clearly showed the applicability of this tool. Variables such as the processing temperature, the slag composition and degree of oxidation in the atmosphere and were studied critically discussed.
