IPT owns the oldest testing laboratory accredited by the Brazilian Network of Test Laboratories – RBLE / INMETRO in Brazil. The initial accreditation was received in 1982 in the area of motorcycle helmet tests, which are compulsory. The tests are performed on domestically manufactured helmets and imported models, aiming to ensure the safety of motorcycle riders, as well as provide data to underpin the development of the industry and for certification organizations to qualify products for the Brazilian market. These tests are: impact absorption, resistance to helmet removal, verification of general and dimensional characteristics, rigidity and retention system.
IPT’s multidisciplinary competencies enable it to evaluate and develop new types of high performance helmets, with a view to continuously enhancing the degree of protection for motorcyclists.
