Bridges and viaducts of Brazil’s road network have for decades been the object of analyses by IPT, considering aspects such as characteristics of the structural project, workload capacity, traffic conditions, passage of super-heavy special loads, occurrence of pathologies and durability, etc. The purpose of these analyses is to evaluate the safety and structural integrity of the works, and to establish guidelines for the maintenance and recovery of these structures.
To support the management and maintenance of engineering structures by the organizations responsible for them, the Institute has ample technical and laboratory capabilities to perform technical inspections, registration, monitoring, experimental and theoretical static and dynamic structural analyses, and to prepare recommendations and guidelines for repairs and structural design.
