Hydrodynamics of pipelines and risers

Compartilhe:
Floating offshore production structures are normally subject to stresses and movements caused by the interaction of risers and umbilical pipes with waves and currents. Such parameters must be carefully foreseen in offshore projects.

IPT evaluates the effects of thermal and hydrodynamic forces in risers and pipelines installed in the ocean, based on experimental studies performed in the Testing Tank.

These studies enable an understanding of the movements of floating structures and the dynamic response of flexible tubes and moorings, aiming to validate new design concepts. The Institute combines theoretical knowledge and empirical data based on testing of physical models in the Hydrodynamics Lab. The results have been systematized in the form of design procedures and recommendations.
