IPT gives support to external corrosion management of pipelines through research and development studies as well as technological services.
Through the Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection (LCP), the Institute experienced a breakthrough in studies of the influence of the alternating current interference of cathodically protected pipelines. Together with Cenpes / Petrobras, the Lab recently developed a new methodology and an AC probe to evaluate the probability of corrosion due to alternating current interference. It designed a probe for in-field measurements providing reliable parameters to assess the AC corrosion of cathodically protected pipelines.
IPT has a complete infrastructure both laboratory facilities and specialized technician for pipeline external corrosion.
