IPT gives support to external corrosion management of pipelines through research and development studies as well as technological services.
LCP\’s facilities for external corrosion research
Through the Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection (LCP), the Institute experienced a breakthrough in studies of the influence of the alternating current interference of cathodically protected pipelines. Together with Cenpes / Petrobras, the Lab recently developed a new methodology and an AC probe to evaluate the probability of corrosion due to alternating current interference. It designed a probe for in-field measurements providing reliable parameters to assess the AC corrosion of cathodically protected pipelines.
IPT has a complete infrastructure both laboratory facilities and specialized technician for pipeline external corrosion.
