The paper industry in Brazil, one of the largest in the world, produced more than nine million tons in 2008, of which approximately 27% were printing and writing papers.
The quality requirements for this type of paper have increased steadily mainly due to the development of printing technologies.
IPT assists companies, raw materials suppliers and users in the characterization and improvement of printing and writing papers, development of specifications and resolution of printing and finishing problems.
The Institute has accumulated knowledge and experience in printing and writing papers, products and raw materials, and performs work on formulation of papers, development of test methods and the solution of printing problems. Additionally, IPT performs durability and permanence tests of these papers.
