IPT analyzes new concepts of river vessels, propulsion systems and steering systems with a view to obtaining the best use of navigable waterways and increasing the efficiency of ports and waterway terminals.
The Institute develops projects and research of navigation safety systems, aiming to prevent accidents on waterways and mitigate the consequences of accidents. To this end, IPT develops floating platform systems for the protection of bridges, as well as electronic monitoring systems and operational procedures to aid the safety of waterway transport.
The projects are developed to meet the needs of national and international waterway managements, shipping companies, port administrators and other interested parties.
