Phosphating for automobile industry: review paper

Abstract

This work deals specifically with phosphating for ferrous metals emphasizing the layers applied on metal sheets for the automotive industry and, therefore, to be used as a basis for painting. Initially, the types of phosphating and an introduction of the mechanism to obtain phosphate layers will be presented. Then, the type of the phosphate layer used as a cataphoretic paint adherence will be discussed. Finally the phosphate-layer characterization tests will be presented.
