Microbiological analysis in oil pipelines and fuel tanks

Compartilhe:
Evaluation of microorganisms in tubings and pipelines is an important tool for the diagnosis and prevention of biocorrosion. One of the more representative groups of bacteria is anaerobic sulfate reduction bacteria (SRB). Damages caused by this microbiota may represent potential risks in oil transportation and storage tanks.

IPT detects and quantifies bacteria in samples collected from pipelines and fuel tanks, such as residues, biocoupons and water, to monitor biological corrosion. The Institute also investigates solutions to control these microorganisms and reduce the damages they cause by monitoring contaminations and evaluating the use of biocides.
