Bioremediation of contaminated soils

Compartilhe:
Bioremediation is a process or strategy to detoxify the ground or other environments using microorganisms (such as fungi and bacteria) and enzymes. It is based on a process of microbial degradation and on chemical reactions combined with engineering processes to transform contaminants so they no longer pose risks to the environment and local populations. Microorganisms act by reducing contaminants, transforming them into subproducts that are less harmful to the environment.

This process remediates contaminated ecosystems and helps in the treatment of wastes and effluents, as well as in unclogging and cleaning pipelines and equipment.

IPT studies and evaluates bioremediation processes for soil decontamination, acting in the isolation of microorganisms in ecosystems, and evaluating the feasibility of bioremediation to treat contaminated soils.
