Hydrodynamics of vessels

Compartilhe:

To develop a high-performance vessel it is necessary to satisfy three basic requirements which must be treated jointly, focusing on the overall performance of the ship and its mission: propulsion, seakeeping and handling. Ships must have efficient propulsion, be able to overcome adverse wind and wave conditions and be seaworthy to ensure safe navigation even in rough seas.

IPT evaluates ship and river vessel designs based on experimental studies, using models and tank testing. Thus, the Institute performs all the basic research work for the marine industry: hydrodynamic hull design, optimization of hull strength and propulsion systems and seakeeping tests.
