Abstract:
The concern with the environment in financial institutions is still a recent feature. The increasing pressure from external stakeholders led to changes in environmental policy of companies like publication and dissemination of sustainability reports. The goal of this study is to accomplish a critical analysis of sustainability in Itaú Unibanco through the evaluation of indicators of the three dimensions (environmental, social and economic) from 2008 up to 2010. To this purpose, it was applied simplified reference model containing 50 indicators, based on the proposal of Delai (2006). As a result, considering the comparable indicators, 2008 was the year best rated, followed by 2010 and finally, 2009. It is suggested the adoption of a single standardized report, which gathers in a consistent, clear and concise way, the three dimensions, allowing the comparison over time
