Abstract:
Most of the time, polarization is studied through kinetic standpoint and researchers have some doubts, such as the reasons of the positive signal to anodic polarization or overvoltage and negative signal to cathodic polarization or overvoltage. This paper presents the concept of polarization through the thermodynamic viewpoint and an attempt to explain the reasons of the signals of the overvoltage phenomenon. In this way it will be studiy, at first, some aspects of the thermodynamic involved in chemical reaction, the concepts of chemichal and electrochemical free-energy. Besides, it will be presents the concept of electrode and equilibrium potentials and finally the study of polarization phenomenon through thermodynamic viewpoint.
