Innumerable adverse phenomena or pathologies may occur during the execution of civil engineering works (underground works, foundations, bridges and overpasses, dams, roads, buildings, etc.), mining works and in finished structures or structures in use. Many apparently serious problems may be simply esthetic, while apparently inoffensive features can point to serious problems.
For the correct identification of such phenomena, IPT performs inspections, installs monitoring instruments, collects samples, makes on-site and laboratory tests, prepares analyses and makes numerical simulations. Characterization tests of materials and structural components can be performed, as well as load tests. Results are published in technical reports and opinions of recognized technical value, which include recommendations for the correction of problems and improvements in structural safety.
